CHECK VALVE

Check valves are otherwise called as self-activating safety valves which allows liquid and gases to flow in only one direction. Check valves are used to avoid the process flow from reversing into the system which can damage the equipment. Check valves are sometimes referred as one-way directional valves.

The pumps can be protected in liquid applications or compressors of gas systems are protected using check valves because it stops the reversing process to prevent shut down. Check valves are applied in a process system which has varying pressure and must kept separate. Check valves works with the pressure drop generated by media flow so they do not need the outside power supply.
